Information

Elgin Golf Club was formed in 1906, starting as a 9-hole course on Wednesday 8th May 1907. The first green-keeper, John Macpherson, appointed in 1907, served continuously until his sudden death in 1951. During that period Mr Macpherson devoted his whole life to maintaining the course. The first Clubhouse was erected and fitted out at the grand cost of £390 in 1909, this should he compared with the current clubhouse refurbishment which took place in the 1990’s at cost of £550,000! The course was extended to 18 holes in 1924, and golf at this time was so popular the membership rose to 711. The first club professional was appointed in 1934, and the longest serving by far was Ian Rodger who was in post for 27 years, retiring in March 2001. The new professional is PGA Professional, Michael McAllan, who took up his position early in 2013.

Great course, well kept, even throughout the winter.
