Cypress Woods Golf and Country Club first opened in 1999. Striving to keep the course challenging, yet more playable, renowned Florida architect Gordon G. Lewis returned to fine-tune his creation in 2001. The cypress heads, pine forests, rolling fairways, elevated greens, and tees create a natural flow that will carry you away from the tensions of modern life into the world of golf. You will have the chance to play through wetlands and nature preserves that offer beautiful scenery and views, alongside a fun round of the greatest game ever played. During the 2001 renovation, fairways were widened and much of the brush and palmettos were cleared, making recovery shots possible out of the rough. While you can hit your driver on most of our holes, many holes call for long irons and fairway woods in order to take the best approach to the green. With an emphasis on course management, it is important to think before you make your shot. Above all else, our course requires unique attention with every shot presented. The course is not only challenging, but aesthetically pleasing as well. The fourth hole is one of the most beautiful holes on the course, but don’t be fooled by the view; this hole is meant to test your ability. From the back tees, you must carry over a wetland natural area to get to the fairway. Another scenic, yet daunting, hole is number sixteen, a par-3 that is 205 from the back tees and 113 from the front. From any tee box, this hole is visually intimidating with a waste bunker to the right that winds among the tee boxes and the largest lake on the course framing the left side of the hole. Lastly, number eighteen is a par-5 that plays 549 yards from the back tees and 373 yards from the front. The challenge comes from the lake and bulkhead that protect part of the approach to the green. If an eagle or a birdie is in order, the water must be crossed. While the risk is high, trust us, the reward is higher; and don’t worry, you can always bail out to the right if necessary.
