Coombe Wood is a mature parkland course renowned for its seven challenging par 3s complemented by the tree-lined par 4s andblind tee shots with heavily bunkered greens. The course is tight and sets a premium on accuracy and shot control. Out of bounds is a danger at many holes and there are numerous other hazards to be negotiated. In 1922 the course was extended to 18 holes with a par of 66 and currently measures 5,285 yards from the white tees. The key to keeping a good score going is to always ensure careful positioning of tee shots. The toughest hole on the course is the par-4 13th. This hole requires two long, straight shots before approaching a green surrounded by bunkers, while the green has many subtle borrows to be cautious of. Water comes into play on several holes, with a number of strategically-placed ditches and brooks, while the more than adequate bunkering makes the course a challenge for golfers of all abilities. Our signature hole is the challenging par-4 11th. This picturesque hole has a right to left sloping fairway, while a ditch and numerous bunkers make the approach to the green challenging. But don’t just take our word for it. Search the internet for reviews of our course from unbiased yet demanding golfers and you will find – consistently – that we come highly recommended from the people that matter.
