Description
Elevated atop the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Wolf Laurel Country Club golf course is both beautiful and challenging. Adorned with the credentials of being one of the highest courses east of the Mississippi River, its elevation and stunning views separate it from other courses in North Carolina. With elevations at almost 5,000 feet, spring, summer and fall temperatures make for perfect playing weather. Designed in 1965 by W.B. Lewis, the course rises and falls from 3,600 feet to 4800 feet in elevation. This 18-hole championship mountain course winds through Wolf Laurel Resort and is conveniently located just a few miles off of Interstate 26. Tee to green elevations change by more than 300 feet. Wolf Laurel Country Club’s signature par three, Hole Number Six, is highlighted by dramatic views and a tee to green elevation change of over 200 feet. With a mountain backdrop, mature forests surrounding the course and no parallel fairways golfers enjoy both a secluded and challenging golf experience.

Jack MarshallOctober 18, 2019This a beautiful mountain golf course! It’s about 30 minutes north of AVL and well worth the drive. The course is carved out of the Blue Ridge mountains with spectacular views. The fairways are well manicured which is good since you rarely have a level lie. The greens are in perfect shape and very difficult to read and putt. On the second green I had an 8 foot birdie putt I ran 2 feet past the hole and it slowly began to roll and stopped 20 yards off the green! Every player in our game had a similar outcome at least once during the round. This is a relatively short track that will humble you. Go with a good attitude and a couple extra sleeves of balls and I promise you will have a great time. My only criticism is that they charge $5 for a bag of 30 practice balls when you’re already paying a significant green fee. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. If you get the chance to go, do it. I will go again.
