Mount Vernon Country Club

The course provides seven tee selections, from 4,935 to 6,366 yards, to challenge golfers of all skill levels. The course winds its way through the original forest of George Washington's Mount Vernon plantation and is enhanced by the presence of Dogue Creek, a Potomac River Chesapeake tidal tributary which lends a water hazard challenge on 14 of Mount Vernon's 18 holes. Extensive course renovations have been completed over the years, with most recently, the conversion from bentgrass fairways to a hybrid Bermuda that has been proven to be more environmentally friendly. We have completed a stream bank stabilization project and earned praise and grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Future course beautification will include a phased conversion of Mount Vernon's most outstanding course design characteristic, its mature tree population, with varieties and sizes that will maintain the challenge that makes the course unique in Northern Virginia.
