Der Refrather Golfplatz zählt auch heute noch zu den anspruchsvollsten Meisterschaftsanlagen Deutschlands. Der besondere Charakter des Platzes wird durch die meist vollkommen mit Baumbestand getrennten Bahnen geprägt. Mehrere rechte und linke Doglegs erfordern präzise Schläge, da der Ball nur wenig Lauf hat. Das gesamte Gelände ist leicht gewellt und ein Bachlauf, der durch das Gelände fließt, erweist sich oft als tückisches Wasserhindernis.
